Bone Tools In Use 300 kya In Levant

Generally speaking, the bone tools are a pretty strong litmus test in the archaeological record for modern humans, although, while attributed to the Upper Paleolithic era, starting ca. 50,000 years ago, there are reliable associations of bone tools with modern humans back to around 70,000 years ago.

But, until very recently, there have not been bone tools found in association with other archaic hominin species, such as the Neanderthals who would have been the hominins present in what is now Israel ca. 300,000 years ago. But, now there are some sparse examples of bone tools used by non-modern human archaic hominins, such as Neanderthals 300,000 years ago in the Levant.
